1863 Signed and Numbered Limited Edition Monument Replicas
The Vermont Brigade is one of the few in the Northern army whose regiments were all from the same state. Even more rare, for a short time in June and July of 1863 there were two all-Vermont brigades in the Army of the Potomac. The 1st Vermont Brigade consisted of five regiments from the state – the 2nd through the 6th. Arriving with the 6th Corps after its forced march of thirty two miles in the evening of July 2, the Vermonters went to the army’s left, where "they saw but little of the fighting which shook the solid ground beneath their feet, and suffered no loss."
The monument is located on Wright Avenue and was dedicated in 1889.
